The Colorism Project Ronald E. Hall Conference on Colorism
August 17, 2023 - August 18, 2023
10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. CST
Virtual Conference
Theme: The Complexity of Colorism
Greetings, It is with great enthusiasm to announce The Colorism Project, Inc.'s virtual Inaugural Ronald E. Hall Conference on Colorism . The conference has been named after distinguished scholar and the “father of colorism” Ronald E. Hall, Ph.D., Professor in the School of Social Work in the College of Social Science at Michigan State University. Dr. Hall’s research spans years focusing on colorism and skin color in the United States and globally. Read more about Ronald E. Hall, Ph.D.
The conference will be the largest meeting of faculty, scholars, practitioners, students, representatives from businesses and industry, organizations, community members, and others interested in colorism across various disciplines and specializations. We anticipate the conference serving as a medium to build a solid and intellectual foundation to advance the study of colorism in academia, the workforce and society while encouraging discussions, initiatives, and other activities focusing on colorism. In addition, we anticipate the conference also serving as a medium for networking, development of workforce training, syllabi and curriculum design and development, increased focus, and inclusion of colorism in the literature on diversity, equity and inclusion, open dialogues, historical perspectives, global colorism issues, and data collection.
In 2022, The Colorism Project noted August as "Colorism Awareness Month" and the two-day virtual conference will be held on August 17, 2023 and August 18, 2023, with weekly events hosted by the Colorism Project leading up to and after the conference.
On behalf of the conference committee, we are looking forward to a robust and stimulating conference.
Continued Success!Donnamaria Donnamaria Culbreth, Ph.D.Conference Founder and Chair
